Technology is wonderful and has made our lives easier and better in so many regards. However, there is still something to be said for writing notes or journaling by hand instead of typing them out on our phones, tablets, or computers. When we take notes by hand, we retain and understand the information at a deeper level because of the drawing movement of our hand to make letters and words. I asked Dr. Jim Loehr, a world renown sports psychologist, if it made a difference between typing the notes or writing them out by hand. He told me that there was a big difference in retention between a person who types the notes and the person who writes them out by hand. Josh Waitzkin, 8x national jr. chess champion and 2x world champion in push hands tai chi, has said that the two most effective daily practices he has found in his life and consulting with fortune 500 CEO's are the practices of journaling and meditation.
So my challenge to you is to take out that pen like people used to do back in the day, start writing, and you might be amazed how much it helps you!
